About Stockport Peace Forum

What we do

We hold public meetings approximately once a month, to which we invite interesting and informative speakers. There are always opportunities to ask questions and join in discussions: sometimes we work in groups and take part in activities.

Meetings are open to all. The forum as a body does not have any political, religious or other standpoint, apart from a commitment to the purposes outlined previously. Individual participants on the other hand, have widely differing experiences, beliefs and views, a diversity which often results in lively and thought-provoking discussion.

Where we meet

Meetings are usually held at the Quaker Meeting House - Cooper Street, Stockport SK1 3QL
The Quaker Meeting House is on the corner of Longshut Lane and Higher Hillgate. The entrance is through the Meeting House car park on Cooper Street, off Higher Hillgate. Pedestrians can enter Cooper street from the A6 (Wellington Road South), about 1/3 mile from Stockport town centre (Mersey Square).

By train: turn right out of main station exit, then turn right on A6 up the hill past the Town Hall and continue for about 1/4 mile until you pass the Volvo showroom, or catch the 192 bus (see above).

In addition to meetings

We hold a regular Peace Stall at the Laura Ashley end of Merseyway Precinct between 11am and 1pm on the second Saturday of the month, unless the weather or other circumstances prevent it.
